Survey Universe

The survey covers 10,619 senior individuals in the 37 countries listed below in two groups:

the Heads of Finance and Treasurers in 2,071 Large Organisations (a total of 3,864 individuals)
senior individuals in Banks and Financial Institutions which provide corporate financial services such as loans, treasury, M & A or strategic advice (6,755 individuals).

The Large Organisations include:

1,520 with sales in excess of US$9.6 billion
720 who had raised more than US$1,000 million using bonds or loans in 2010
the top 100 Banks in terms of tier 1 capital
an additional 71 large organisations in emerging markets.

These groups were de-duplicated to generate the largest 2,071 organisations in the world. In the largest 550 organisations the Deputy Head of Finance was also included.

The table below shows the universe size and profile by region, together with their relative size in terms of GDP. The 37 countries are listed in the methodology and represent 89% of global GDP.
